The boundary walls of this Clifton four storey townhouse had suffered ivy infestation resulting in significant damage including crumbling mortar. This required complete repointing. Repointing was undertaken using black mortar in keeping with the style of the property and wall rebuild was carried out where necessary.
The client then required a stylish new patio. We suggested that a dark grey natural slate would alter the space dramatically with raised planting areas so the patio created the ideal back drop for luscious green planting. As the client wished to entertain, we built seating and a tabletop serving area to add functionality. The change in levels between table top and seating also added a different dimension to the space.
The reclaimed stone that we used for the borders and seating areas is Blue Lias, not a native stone of bristol, sourced from Wells reclamation. This type of stone is warming and has lovely shades of grey, yellow and greeny blues and secured the unique status of this contemporary garden space.
